VORPH
SAMAEL

In our early spring edition of X commandments series a co-founder of SAMAEL, a front man, a guitar player, a singer. We got the chance to catch him at his home, to ask him some questions about the albums which he likes the most. Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce Vorph (does he need the introduction?).
I. AC/DC- "Back In Black"
One of the greatest album they have ever recorded. Perfect production, great songs. That was one of the first albums I had, when I started to be interested in metal music. At they times I started thinking of playing guitar.
II. METALLICA- "Master Of Puppets"
One of the best metal album ever. It is like a perfect definition of thrash metal. It contains the great lyrics and what is more amazing, it is a collection of speeding and complex music which is interesting in every single minute. I cannot get bored with Master Of Puppets.
III. SLAYER- "Reign In Blood"
For me their best album from eighties. The most important and influential Speed Metal band in history. Rather short album, but the brutality and power. In middle eighties there wasn’t any other band with such speed and aggression. With such songs like "Angel of Death" or "Jesus Saves , absolute number one!
IV. RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE- "Rage Against The Machine"
Their first album is fantastic. I think they were on of the first who mixed heavy metal style with rap. I guess we can call them the pioneers of new-metal. Without the album there were no Limp Bizkit or Linkin Park.
V. PRODIGY- "The Fat Of The Land"
So, lets expend this list adding something different. I listen to it from time to time just to get something get say fresh. I mean on their albums you can find that sort of energy, you don’t experience on the typical metal albums. Probably that is the reason, I have chosen The Fat Of The Land.
VI. BATHORY – "Under The Sign Of The Black Mark"
The great classical metal album. Moody atmospheres and speeding pulsating rhythms. For sure they inspired us somehow to create a group. Maybe in early years, Samael was discovering the different areas but we always felt Bathory influenced us.
That is also one of the most important albums in the history of the extreme music.
VII. IRON MAIDEN – "Piece Of Mind"
Another great piece of music. I don’t like everything from Iron Maiden, but I have to say that I love a few albums from them. This one reminds me about times when they played around and it was the first time I saw them on stage. Special memory to me.
VIII. VENOM- "Black Metal"
They could be the three first albums of Venom listed here as well. Fast riffs, fast drumming. I that times everything in Venom seemed to be fast, heee. Cllasical masterpiece in black metal history. How could the music style be called if they didn’t record that album. That is also the reason I have chosen “Black Metal” for this list.
IX. MOTORHEAD – "No Sleep Till Hammersmith"
The perfect example what is the good gig about. While listening those songs you can feel that tension, get the energy generated by the band. I wish we could do the same while touring. Amazing and great stuff. So powerful.
X MOZART – "Requiem"
I think we should add something classical to the list. This is my favourite from Mozart. I listen to it frequently often when I want to get some sort of peace. Classical music is also very inspirational.
