Guitarist/vocalist Ola Lindgren of Swedish death metal veterans GRAVE has launched a solo project called GREY HEAVENS. He says, "For many years I have had plans to do a project to explore different sides of extreme music with ideas that simply would not fit in my main band. This is a more dark and experimental side of my musicality and shows a different approach to metal than just the straightforward death metal that has been my main inspiration and which has resulted in the eight GRAVE albums in the past 21 years.... Forced to cancel Scandinavian tour

Swedish experimental exteme metallers MESHUGGAH have issued the following update: "We're VERY, VERY sorry to have to bring you these news, but we have to cancel the upcoming Scandinavian dates! Tomas [Haake] has had some back-related problems lately, problems that have been messing with his right foot/leg when playing drums. Tomas had an MRI about a week ago and the results came back early this week. Seems he has a herniated disc in his lower back and this is what's been causing problems for him when playing.... More...

Recording starts in October

DOWN has issued the following update: "Down's been offered a great amount of festivals all over Europe this summer, so here we come (see dates below). We also have a couple of dates on our own with the mighty ST. VITUS! We're in the final stages of the documentary and it should be out soon. After the European festivals, we're planning one more run of select markets in The States from August to September. Emission Of Sins

Sweden's HELLFUELED has set "Emission Of Sins" as the title of its fourth album, due later in the year. The CD was recorded over a seven-week period at Leon Music studios with producer Rikard Löfgren (DEATHSTARS, SPARZANZA). Commented the band: "Producer Rikard Löfgren [felt] totally right for us and we [worked] as a team on making some new arrengements and stuff on the songs. AHAB, the German funeral doom metal band featuring MIDNATTSOL guitarist Daniel Droste on guitar/vocals and ex-MIDNATTSOL guitarist Christian Hector, has set "The Divinity Of Oceans" as the title of its sophomore album, due late July via Napalm Records. The follow-up to 2006's "The Call of the Wretched Sea" contains seven songs and is based on the wreckage of the Essex. The track listing is as follows:... More...

WATCH ME BLEED

Completes work on new album

WATCH ME BLEED, the German band featuring MYSTIC PROPHECY guitar player Markus Pohl and SYMPHORCE drummer Steffen Theurer, has completed work on its full-length debut. The CD was mixed by Christian "Moschus" Moos (DELAIN, C-187, EVERON) at Spacelab studios and mastered by Eroc (SODOM, DELAIN) at the Mastering Ranch. It contains eleven songs with guest appearances by Andy B. Franck (BRAINSTORM), Nemesis (EIGENSINN) and Greek guitar wizard Constantine (MYSTIC PROPHECY, THE DESCENDING). According to Markus Pohl, the band "is extremely satisfied with the whole album, the sound and the songs." The end result is "pure metal, aggressive, in your face and heavy. OLD MAN'S CHILD

New album tracklisting revealed

Norwegian melodic black metal band OLD MAN'S CHILD, which is led by guitarist/vocalist Galder (also in DIMMU BORGIR), will release its new album, "Slaves Of The World", on May 19 via Century Media Records (one day earlier internationally). The CD was recorded last fall at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden with producer Fredrik Nordström (DIMMU BORGIR, ARCH ENEMY, IN FLAMES, etc.), who had previously worked with the band on the "In Defiance Of Existence" (2003) and "Vermin" (2005) albums. The nine-song effort features Peter Wildoer (DARKANE, PESTILENCE) on drums.... More...
