Slander suit against Ryszard Nowak

BEHEMOTH's mainman Adam "Nergal" Darski files libel suit against the head of the All-Polish Committee for Defence against Sects- Ryszard Nowak. Nergal claims that Nowak slandered him in the interview for Gazeta Świętojańska, repeatedly calling him (Nergal) a criminal.

On Monday, in Gdańsk Court was held the first hearing in that case. However, the process has been postponed to 11 March. Nergal's lawyer Maciej Szudek asked for more time to response to Nowak's arguments. Darski demands apology from Nowak in "Gazeta Wyborcza" (one of the biggest Polish daily newspapers) and three thousand zloty (Polish currency) for homeless animals living in a shelter "Ciapkowo" in Gdynia.

Nowak does not intend to apologize Nergal. He claims that his apologies would be a green light to all musicians worshiping Satan, that they can do everything on stage: burn crosses, destroy the Bible or just offend Christians. "I'd rather go to prison"- Nowak says.

Nowak registered an official complaint with the authorities in Poland regarding a BEHEMOTH concert that took place in the Polish city of Gdynia in September 2007 that included the destruction of a Bible by the band's leader, vocalist/guitarist Adam "Nergal" Darski. During a break in the show, Nergal apparently called the Catholic Church "the most murderous cult on the planet" before tearing up the Bible, stating, "they call it the Holy Book, I call this the book of lies. Fuck the shit, fuck the hypocrisy." In February this year in Gdynia Public Prosecutor's Office initiated the investigation. After three months the investigation had been terminated.
