Three faces of extreme

Although the last day of January stays in Germany as a date generally uniting itself very badly, for all maniacs of heavy sounds it was probably without meaning in due of event awaited by them probably since a few weeks. Three bands of world metal league, presenting the different shades of this art began in this day the European tour, treating their fans by the doses of extreme with the sign of highest quality. Only just the names of participants were the embodiment of slogan “something nice for everyone”: CHILDREN OF BODOM, CANNIBAL CORPSE, DIABLO. Two first of them have the solid base of fans in Germany not since today, so nothing strange, that yet a few hours before the show, the groups of fans started to gather itself in front of venue situated in Berliner quarter named Neukölln awaiting the facing with their idols, according of their own tastes, although the common sympathy for the extreme very effectively obliterates in these kind of cases the whole divisions.

Almost punctually (I don’t know… Maybe my watch refuses sometimes the obedience?) on the stage appeared itself the first of bands. The name very original (a little bit Spanish, isn’t it?), the music however a little bit average. I didn’t know DIABLO earlier, but as I had a time to inquire about this band, I heard from the youth that the horde comes similar like headliner of this tour from the Land of Thousands Lakes. The repertoire presented by them included the elements of modern metal connecting this style efficient with the melody known to us from the records of the main heroes those evening. Although that’s not my music, I can’t however to name it as a hog-wash and knowing about the admirers of this kind of artistry I decide myself to prove my tolerance, wishing to DIABLO simultaneously a much of good luck.

Considering however my lack of special impressions reasoned by the music of the Finns and my growing excitement in due of show the next participant, I think that would be better go to the heart of the matter. This band stays the one of my favourite death metal hordes since many, many years. I remember yet the times of the last years in primary school, when listening their old albums I was the object of critics from all my friends, who seeing the hideous front covers were the same totally disgusted as my teachers or parents… So many years have passed the same like so many historic upheavals – the serious changes of vocalists, another of albums recorded in different studios, the new chapters of career – but in spite of all those elements this band is still alive, giving to us the new stuff, concerts and staying the same dangerous, the same death metal and the same horrible as in the old times. Last year CANNIBAL CORPSE celebrated the 20th anniversary of existence, now the guys treated to us their new and eleventh work named “Evisceration Plague”. The present tour was of course a part of promotional campaign this album, so my meeting with Floridian pathologist was the eighth time in my life letting to convince me about their unshaken condition and inviolable certificate of brutality. But how could to be otherwise when the pulsating and hard bass of main composer and mind of this band – Alex Webster – supporting by the sharping riffs of Rob Barrett and Pat O’Brien, blasting cascades of drums producing by Paul Mazurkiewicz and of course the indestructible throat of George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher are the issues deciding not only about the masterpiece of extreme, but about the neverending guarantee too? I can’t to find a perfect words for these guys, who stays in spite of so many years of existing as the stainless steel of metal industry. The murderous repertoire performed by them left of course nothing more than bloody, vaporising fleshes, cause the weight of Cannibal’s stuff can be comparable probably only with the 100-tones bulldozer, smashing the skulls like the eggs. The details? CANNIBAL CORPSE presented like always the stuff as well from the old as like from the new records, including of course a few shots from the album “Evisceration…”. During about one hour of massacring by the sounds everyone, who was thirsty for blood, the Floridian assassins attacked with the tracks like “Time To Kill Is Now”, “Death Walking Terror”, “Disfigured”, “Evisceration Plague” (a new shot No.1), “I Cum Blood”, “Fucked With A Knife” (dedicated traditionally to the all ladies standing in front of the stage, he, he!), “Sentenced To Burn”, “Make Them Suffer”, “Priest Of Sodom” (the next new track of the latest album), “Unleashing The Bloodthirsty”, “Hammer Smashed Face” and “Stripped, Raped And Strangled”, playing probably obligatory as the final track of every show of them. If somebody of you had to do with this band although a one time at live version, knows surely which kinds of feelings can to experience, if not – beware! Hopefully I will see them in action not one time yet, awaiting the real sonic murder with the sign of highest quality. Stay strong, bros!

What can I write about the headliner and at the same time the main star of the evening? It’s time to announce the one of leading heroes in history of Finish metal scene – CHILDREN OF BODOM. Hmmmm… As I remind myself, I wrote somewhere probably, that the music of this band is not my glass of beer, but absolutely it doesn’t change a fact, that the respect for the crew directed by Alexi Laihoo I had and will always have. Why? Sometimes I think, that every, who reached a success deserves for it, cause nothing happens so simply and the admiration for this band stays probably not coincidental too. A piece of luck is in this case not without meaning too (12 years of existing and so high position – what could to play here a main role?), but except of all there are much of musical tastes on this world and as the most popular and assimilable passes last times everything that is melodic and commercial, nothing strange that they are so liked, not only among the teenagers, although a lot of them filled those evening the inside of venue. The hysteria and madness of fans were visible by the every of playing tracks. Similar like Cannibals, the Fines promoted their newest album. The last work of them is titled “Blooddrunk” and the new stuff appeared partially during the show, but Alexi and his comrades didn’t forget of course about the older tracks (“Sixpounder”, “Hate Crew Deathroll”, “Bodom Beach Terror”, “Lake Bodom” or “Follow The Reaper”), that were probably like a real honey, sugar and vanilla mixed as one. Very tactless would be of course not to mention about a splendid light scenography, providing the mystical atmosphere and making the show very effective. So, as you see – everywhere can to find the positive sides. Something for end and as the resume? Three shades of music extreme – DIABLO, CANNIBAL CORPSE and CHILDREN OF BODOM. Thank all of them it was another good concert and another nice accent for the beginning of upcoming weekend.
