THE ROTTED
The king is dead, long life the king!

-What inspires you to writing these all of sick stories? The horror films, the TV-news about the serial killers?
I don’t write sick stories, gore or horror anymore at all!!! That was what GOREROTTED was, not what THE ROTTED is. Check the song titles and lyrics on this album, I write about my life and things that we see and do on tour. Every word I am speaking now is truth, the only horror I write about is real life experiences, I am not inspired by horror films or serial killers at all!!!
-Well...so is „Kissing You With My Fists” a love song?
“Kissing You With My Fists” is about fighting people on the London Underground Train network, none of it is about sick stories, they’re just tales of the life we lead, and like I said, our natural personalities shine through, so it has some subtle humour in there too. London’s a very crowded place and it’s very difficult to love your fellow man when the average Londoner is a msierable asshole! So I’m writing about life in this over-crowded, over-priced, polluted crap-hole that I’m actually moving away from very soon!
-You should to remember, that one of the famous horror-books author, Graham Masterton, represents your magnificent fatherland! What would you tell, if the creator of “Manitou” would send you a acknowledgment letter, informing about the ideas for the new book, born after the listening of “Get Dead…”, ha, ha?
I don’t think a horror writer would be able to get any inspiration from tales of my life here in London! I haven’t read any Graham Masterton books, my girlfriend has a bunch but I have never read them. Check out James Herbert too though for good English horror writers!
-My question about horror-books appeared here, cause asking all time about the records, listening by the musicians is sometimes very commonplace. You are the first person, who I want to ask about reading the books, so how’s within by you?
It’s fine for you to ask son, but you would be better off asking bands that write about horror and all that kind of stuff. That’s not what we’re about at all. I don’t see any point in writing lyrics that are meaningless to me. If I am going to give my best performance, I can do it with a lot more rage and truthfulness if I am singing about something that’s important to me.
-Many people say that music is a great thing to attract chicks. Can you sign under such an opinion? Do you play music, appear on stage also to experience some of your sexual fantasies?
Haha well, obviously girls come to shows, so if you’re a single guy on tour it can be a time to „sow your wild oates” shall we say, but my personal opinion is that anyone who forms a band with the sole intention of attracting chicks is a fucking moron! You wanna pick up chicks, go to a bar or club and turn on the charm, don’t form a band and walk around like some deluded wanna-be rock star trying to get laid! If your prime motiviation whilst writing is to get with girls, that’s what’s going to shape your sound and you’ll end up with a contrived, throw away piece of crap, not a genuinely powerful piece of art!
-OK, we are talking about your new album, aren't we? So how was the recording of "Get Dead Or Die Trying"? Did something worth telling happen? Are you satisfied in 100% with the final result?
Nothing worth telling really, we just got in the studio and did our thing. We’re very pleased with the way it came out, there’s nothing I’d change about it right now!
-I absolutely love songs like “Kissing You With My Fists” or “It's Like There's A Party...”, mostly for their great energy flowing out from every fucking tune. What are your favorite tracks from “Get Dead Or Die Trying” and why?
Well, they all stand out on their own, they all sound different from one another and there’s no filler, so I can’t pick one because they all have their own unique flavour, but they also flow together to make a complete album, so it works as a whole, rather than as individual songs
-What drugs were you on when you wrote songs like "A Brief Moment Of Regret" or "28 Days Later"?
Nothing! That’s the point, ‘Brief Moment..’ is the regret and remorse you feel temporarily when you come down off drugs! Before you go straight back into it again and destroy yourself once more! And that’s the point that the next song kicks in and the chaos comes right back in!
-Your music has evolved considerably over the years and it seems that with this newest CD you have delivered what many will see as group's most matured effort to date. Looking back, at your previous works do you feel that your band has finally reached a point of maturity that you’ve not been able to capture with any of your past releases?
No, everything we did in the past was a good representation of the people we were, it wasn’t about trying to capture a maturity, it was just us writing and playing songs. But of course, we have changed over the years, we’ve made a natural progression and we’ve got better at playing our instruments so it is -as you say- our most matured effort so far, just because of our personal growth.
