HELLSAW
Satan is inside of us

-I get the impression that you don't try to keep your music innovate, experimental, catchy, memorable, whatever. You just play fucking brutal black metal without any compromise. Do you feel that is a state of mind HELLSAW has kept through the years?
I’m really very surprised to hear you say that. Amazed in fact, because you are the first person who has ever thought this. Everyone else, both fans and critics have all said that the album is extremely varied, that the sound is very much Hellsaw’s sound, and that some pieces are very catchy indeed. Everyone agrees that the melodic pieces express completely different emotions from the faster pieces. To be honest, we have never just played brutal black metal, and we have never been described as such a band, and we certainly don’t think of ourselves in that way.
-What is in your opinion the most important element of black metal? What separates true black metal from false black metal?
The most important element in black metal is to create something that expresses what you genuinely feel and believe. That applies to any genre really. If you don’t feel what you write and play and you don’t believe in what you’re doing, it’s artificial and false.
-What are the band's plans for the rest of the year? What HELLSAW fans should expect from the band in the nearest future?
So far in 2009 we will be playing at the Kings of Black Metal, Legacy, Haliaetum, Kaltenbach, Party.San and Metal Invasion Festivals, and it is our intention to play live as much as possible because that’s a big part of Hellsaw. And of course we will be starting work on our next album.
-Alright, for now that's actually all what I want to know. Are there any last words for this interview?
Thank you, and we look forward to playing in Poland one day, and meeting all our fans in person.
