Plague of butterflies

-The EP features also four tracks from "Out Of This Gloomy Light" demo tape from 2003. In my opinion it's a good decision to put that unreleased demo out finally. Why did it take so long? Why didn't you release it five years ago?
When we recorded the demo, it was only a way to get those few songs out from my system. Then we got signed straight away after sending only 3 copies out, so there wasn't any official release of that demo. People have been asking so much about it and we tought this is the right time to put it out, on the EP.

-The title track on the EP is a great example for band's constant progression. Since the recording of "Out Of This Gloomy Light" in 2003 your music has evolved changed a bit. It's not a drastic change, but not you are much more progressive. It can be heard also on your previous full length release "Hope". Do those releases (I mean your latest full length CD and the EP) mark a point of maturity that you have not been able to capture on your first two albums?
Of course, all of us have grown as a musician in last 6 years this band and maybe you can hear that on the albums too. We never could do a song like Plague Of Butterflies back in 2003, so yes- there's been some maturing in the songwriting and playing.

-OK, what's next for SWALLOW THE SUN? What can we expect from you in the future? Have you already started writing for the next full length release? Can you describe the new ideas compared to some of your recordings?
New album is basically written already, but we are touring so much that there is no time to go studio until the summer, so I guess the album will be out at fall 2009. I think that we found our own style pretty much on the first demo, and new album will defenitely sound like us, so no worries about techno album, haha.

-All SWALLOW THE SUN members have been involved in different underground bands and side projects, such as ALGHAZANTH, EMPYREAN BANE, BARREN EARTH, RANDOM, RAUTAKELLO, ATAKHAMA, OBSCURANT, MORNINGSTAR, TROLLHEIM'S GROTT, MURDER IN ART, PLUTONIUM ORANGE, CLAYFORGE, VERIVALA, FUNERIS NOCTURNUM, ENTER MY SILENCE. Ugh...quite a lot! Unfortunately, I haven't got an opportunity to listen to any of this bands, shame on me! Would you be so kind as to portrait each of those bands with a few words?
Ah, sorry I really can't, 'cos even I haven't listen all those bands so much that I could say anyhing clear about them all. But the music styles of all those bands are so different that it reflects also in our music and I'm really happy about that, makes the STS sound much richer.

-OK, that's all. Thank you so much for your time and patience. All the best in 2009 and talk to you soon! Can't wait for the next album!
Hey, thank you for the interview, I'm doing this on the tour, in fact just after the show, so hope it's not too mixed up, haha. See you.
