Vampires strike back

2009-02-05 10:55, Maciej Miskiewicz

-For many years you’ve cooperated with PAGAN RECORDS. The label which already has a cult status in polish underground. Tomasz – label’s founder and owner – is one of the most dedicated metal maniacs in Poland. I guess it wasn’t so easy to say good bye…
That’s correct, Tomasz is very dedicated to what he does, very true with his rules, it’s his label so he does a good job. We’ve grown big with Pagan and the sentiment is still strong in our hearts. I wish Tomasz all the best for I know how much he has done for the scene.

-In Europe album will be released by REGAIN RECORDS. What are your expectations? Do you think that the right time has finally come for you to conquer other territories? Are there any plans for touring outside Poland?
Yes, the album will be release by Swedish Regain on 25th of February. What do we expect from them? Not so much actually! It’s a great thing that the album is being released for European audience. “Cold+Blood+Messiah” is our best album ever so it’s a good start to show our band to the European fans. We don’t feel any pressure. We are just waiting what will happen. Touring is also on our mind, we have many opportunities to play, but our “normal” lives get in the way with playing much gigs. So it’s an everyday’s life prose ;)

- When talking’ bout labels. You’re the boss of recently resurrected WITCHING HOUR PRODUCTIONS. Why did you decide to start again in those rather hard times? And how could you describe the way you choose the artists to cooperate with?
I did because of the hard times! I’ve decided to help my friends that are seeking a label with great material and just can’t find the right one. If the stuff is OK with me I will release it. I want to share this great music with the world, it’s a hard work but I enjoy it.

- You’ve recorded cover versions of VENOM’s „Black Metal”, MAYHEM’s „Deathcrush”, KAT’s „Czarne zastępy” and BATHORY’s „Valhalla” in the past. I guess that those are the bands who has strogngly influenced your musical taste. Are there any more? Do you think about recording of any other covers in the future? Maybe one of QUEEN’s classics? I;ve heard that you’re a great fan of Freddie Mercury’s voice.
You’ve got me! It’s obvious that recording covers is a way of paying a homage to my favorite bands. They were all great and recorded some serious shit! As far as other cover I have some right now on my mind, “God of Emptiness” by Morbid Angel is one of them. And as for Freddy… He’s my “big love” Ha ha ha whatever that means!!! It’s my musical guru but he is out of my reach for now, and recording a cover of his music is simply now a mission impossible…(laugh)
