CANTATA SANGUI

Songs of blood

-Some time ago you signed a deal with Season Of Mist. It's gonna be a turning point for the band in promotion and marketing issues. Are you ready to dominate? To be more serious, how much do you expect from this cooperation, what are your main goals?
Nowadays everyone and their dog can publish music on their own. Promotion and marketing however cannot be done efficiently without necessary contacts and resources. We have been very happy with the SoM promotion department and expect them to shine in the future as well. Becoming a label band has been a big change of course, since you need to take yourself more seriously as a musician and a band member. But it's worth all the work.

-Right after the album release your line up has changed a bit. Your long-time member Mika A.A. Hyytinen left the band due to some personal reasons. He was replaced by bassist Juha Vilhunen and male vocalist Kari Husa. How can that change affect the band and your music?
Mika has always had a major effect on our music, being one of our main composers. However, since our composing is mostly riff based the change is not that big as it might sound. It's also not completely ruled out that we might use riffs as well as lyrics by him in the future. Both Juha and Kari are excellent musicians, and Juha's knowledge on the Lovecraftian world is a big plus. So, I see this change more of an opportunity than a threat really.

-OK, we are pretty close to the last question. What's next for CANTATA SANGUI? What are your future plans?
As soon as we’re done with the interview spree that’s going on now, we’ll start focusing on live shows again. So, I think we’ll spend most of the spring delivering the music for the people. We also keep on writing new material all the time. Making a video would be nice, as well, but all of this still remains on a speculative level, so let’s not get too deep into that now.

-That's all. Thank you very much for taking some time to answer to this interview. The final words are yours...
Thank you for your encouraging comments. It took us 2 years to get this album out - after around 10 years of maturing as a band. I'm thrilled to see the release date approaching. Hopefully the fans and new listeners will be as happy with the album as we (Cantata Sangui) are.
