VIRUS
Black hole in the universe

-The lyrics. Would you say there is any conceptual story behind the new album lyrical content, an idea that you wanted to play with?
There’s no concept. This album has kinda made itself in many ways. The lyrics are there to complete the “landscape”, you know. This album is very abstract, and the lyrics are surreal. The lyrics should be a personal experience for each individual listener. I have my way of perceiving them, while I’ve noticed other people having completely different ways of how they interpret them. People see different things, and we’re very happy with that. You can’t “misunderstand” The Black Flux. It’s a subjective experience.
-Let's finally say a few words about business side of things. The album was released by Season Of Mist. Was it a good choice? Weren't you satisfied with your cooperation with Kristoffer Rygg's record label? Or maybe he wasn't interested in releasing “The Black Flux”? OK, too many questions, so let's simplify it- why did you choose not to work again with Jester Records?
They’re very professional. By far the most professional label any of us have ever worked with. They’re just about the only label which hasn't got a bad reputation in the scene, amongst musicians. We’re very thankful that they’re willing to put so much effort into us. Our music is not commercially viable, you know. There’s almost no hope of selling many Virus-records, our music is just too weird, but anyway, they’ve put full priority into us, and we’ve never gotten so much attention regardless any of the bands we’ve played with. About Jester… Me and Kris are old friends. And, you know, there’s a saying: Never do business with friends. Not that there were any arguments or anything in regards to the “Carheart”-album, far from it. We just wanted to move on and try out something bigger. No bad vibes at all.
-The fourth full length album of AURA NOIR has been released this year. What's the first thought that comes to your mind when you think about "Hades Rise" album?
Rock, and also Roll.
-Apart from AURA NOIR, you are involved in a black thrash metal band INFERNÖ. To the best of my knowledge the band is in a writing mode right now. Could you give me some details concerning the upcoming album tentatively called "On Earth As It Is In Hell"?
I think Infernö is more of a Punk- Thrash- band. Aura Noir is a Black Thrash- band. We’ll see if there’s gonna be a new Infernö album at all. Maybe we’re just too old now. You know, we were a very young and energetic band. I think we’re too old now to do something in the same vein and with the same energy level as „Downtown...” or the debut. We’ll see....maybe.
-As far as I know you have already started working on new VIRUS material. Come on man...are you so obsessed with music?
I need to work with music, constantly. Don’t know why.... it’s a driving- force from somewhere inside my brain, or in my „soul”, or whatever... It’s what I do, you know. I’m not saying I know how to do it, but it’s the only thing I can do that’s rationable or sensible.
-OK, I won’t be bothering you any longer. Thank you very much for the interview and especially for being so tolerant of some stupid questions. Keep on going!
My pleasure, man! Thanx for your support and interest!
