We will never be emo

-The limited edition of “Cataract” will have a bonus CD, including the covers of groups like SLAYER, OBITUARY, SEPULTURA, MADBALL, CRO-MAGS, PANTERA, RAMONES or even MÖTLEY CRÜE. It must to be a very hot session…
Cause factly it was, but these covers we have recorded in January in Swiss Eversound Studio, being the own of our sound engineer. We had a much of fun during those session, and as the effects are very pretty, we decided in agreement with our label to join this stuff to our new album. It had to be an experiment to check it how we overcomes ourselves with the various repertoire. By a hairbreadth came on this point into the serious disturbances, cause when every of us has chosen the tracks that would to refashion, it appeared, that we need ten records (laugh). Finally however after long and bloodless negotiations we have reached the compromise. I think, that thank of additional CD our new album will be in his first limited edition as a very desired thing for our fans. It’s a kind of small present as the thanks for 10 years of support. We have honored however this way our idols, the bands having the big influence for us.

-Ekhm… but MÖTLEY CRÜE?
We have made “Kickstart My Heart” for a joke and presented it not so long ago during special concert, playing as… CATARACT CRÜE (laugh). The people had a much of fun, seeing us in combed back wigs, wearing all those clothes as like glam rock bands from 80s. Of course it was a much of lipsticks, face powder, etc. It was really total tomfoolery. When you see your band comrade painting his mouth, it really makes the impression (laugh). -A change of subject. I have heard, that in spite of big recession your albums good manages themselves…
I have these kinds of information too. As the proof, that’s it, is the fact, that Metal Blade want to prolong our contract. They are very satisfied from hitherto cooperation and offers to us very curious conditions. “Cataract” is the last album from old deal and soon we will must to sit down and to talk about what next. For this moment we are very satisfied . Of course, it could to make a some of things better, to press with the promotion in the countries, where CATARACT is not good known yet, but as for this moment everything goes in good direction, and we will stay almost sure by them.

-So, you bear not them a grudge for the promoting you once upon a time as metalcore band, of course to the moment, when you have denied it yourself in interviews.
Unfortunately, we have no influences on this, how they wants to perceive us, although I have expressed my statement about it many times. In any case, that’s a part of one strategy, to stick somebody the “metalcore” label is today rather a good beginning. I don’t like personally those kind of actions, similar like I am not very fond of metalcore.

-So, you have a beer by me…
I really don’t like (laugh). In this kind can to find of course a few of good bands, as the examples I would mention here HEAVEN SHALL BURN or BORN FROM PAIN, which have brought at least here in Europe the popularity of this art. Unfortunately, 99% of those bands tries to copy them by a very primitive way, so that’s way, having no solid support in the young bands, all this trend goes slowly to the end. The best will surely survive and record many of good albums, but similar like in the case of death the other music styles, it will be sure a very small handful of really valuable groups.

-A real strength of CATARACT lies within, that you have many years of practice in underground and before the world started to take you a bow, you were worldly wise. There are not so much of these bands on the scene of wide understood emo…
Yeah, you have absolutely right. Our strength lies in all of those years and the consciousness where came we from. It was still very differently, much of times we have played concert before five persons or to toil ourselves, playing on the shitty equipment. Those kinds of experiences have formed a big humility by us, reasoned, that we are very conscious what we do. Actually, we are trendy and we can’t to complain regards the things, which were the big problems for us yet few years ago. But if it will change itself and we will return after few years into the underground, we won’t break up ourselves like the most of those young bands, but with smiles on our faces we will do our work.
