Hell Yeah!!! Who could to think, that GRAVE comes to his roots back? I know, that it can to be heard very unbelievable, especially remembering the recommendation for the last album of crew from Visby. Of course, believing the words of Ola Lindgren, who has announced two years ago ,,As Rapture Comes’’ as the most brutal stuff in the band’s discography, can to admit, that in a way he has kept a promise, cause the album presented itself factly as a crushing, heavy and without whichever kinds of compromises.
Maybe if it would be yet a some faster and more flavoured with a fury, probably we would got the typical GRAVE album, characterizing itself with all of those elements, which we have heard before the years on ,,Into The Grave’’ or ,,You’ll Never See…’’ Oh, yeah, I know that a lot of you will to shake probably with heads now, when I state the opinion about amazing brutality of the new work of Swedes, who have recorded the best and the most dangerous album after their reunion, but if you don’t believe – check it yourself! Ladies and gentlemen, finally can to be truly announced, that GRAVE caught a wind into the sails and steps towards the quintessence of his past, although two big changes had happened last time. Firstly, in band’s line-up plays no more Jonas Torndal, the one of GRAVE original members. Very hard to judge a reason of his decision, but the quality of music filling ,,Dominion VIII’’, absolutely don’t loses even without of him. Secondly, a new stuff is first album recorded under the banner of new label, cause after the parting with Century Media the guys moved themselves into Regain. Who knows, maybe a new business chapter in their career has woken up exactly a new power and potential? Maybe…
Regardless of circumstances, the new album of kills in every of his aspects. Not only the furious track (,,A World In Darkness’’, ,,Stained By Hate’’, ,,Bloodpath’’) keeps the spirit of past days, cause even the slow fragments, like for example ending the album almost 8-minute track ,,8th Dominion’’, provides the specific atmosphere, full of grimness, anxiety and atrocity. Of course and like always as distinguishing mark can to mention the high skills of musicians, especially of Ronnie, who replacing Pelle has introduced into the GRAVE style a new kind of drum brutality. The sound of album is crushing and heavy like a 50-tons tank (Soulless Studio Stockholm and Sandkvie Studio Visby) , so nothing strange, that about ,,Dominion VIII’’ can only to say, that’s the true GRAVE album, which we could to imagine ourselves in a most courageous of dreams. This way can only to confirm, that band returns really to his roots again, what as additional argument mirrors too a new recorded track ,,Annihilated Gods’’, published first time on the demo ,,Sick Disgust Eternal’’ from 1988. Enjoy the carnage!
